Pet Surgery Veterinarian in Loveland

If your pet is scheduled for surgery at our Boyd Lake Veterinary Center in Loveland facility, our veterinarians understand how to treat your pet properly. Whether it is Dr. Patrick Doherty, Dr. Carrie Tyszko, or Dr. Katie Smith performing the procedure, remember that your pet is in great hands and will be surrounded by a full team of experts throughout the process. Our veterinarians in Loveland are devoted to giving outstanding quality surgical pet care. We are here to provide complete care instructions and support you through each stage in the process. Here's a guide to preparing your pet for surgery at our vet hospital as well as post-op care.

Pre-operative Care for Pet

Before our veterinary experts plan your pet's surgery, we will communicate all treatment alternatives in-depth with you. Our team will walk you through every step of the process. We will also administer pre-operative blood work to determine if it's safe to allocate anesthesia to your pet. Leading up to the surgery, we advise no food be given within 12 hours before the scheduled procedures. A small portion of water is acceptable. Unless a procedure is simple, such as a neuter or spay, we keep your pets for observation until the anesthesia fades.

Post-Operative Care for Pets

After a major surgery, we keep your pet overnight to ensure no complications. Every pet owner gets a list of post-operative care instructions and medication to manage your pet's pain. We are serious about pain management and make every effort to ensure your pet is healthy and pain-free. In many circumstances, the main issue is getting the pet to stay still. If your pet develops any unexpected complications, please contact our vet hospital immediately. Our veterinarians in Loveland are always accessible during business hours for emergency care.
